This week at the library; or, Week 12 of the pandemic

summer reading materials for food service
and a small local daycare next week, including
library and Library on the Go books

I'm working every Saturday for the foreseeable future, so I'm rescheduling this to Sunday morning. We had originally planned to open this week, to limited access to the public, but because our safety equipment wasn't in place this was postponed. Rest assured, we are not slacking though. We are busy. Very, very, busy. This was the official last week of school as well. Summer reading materials requests continue, I needed to put together all the summer school teacher requests from last week, and prepare various projects for my staff. Busy.

  • Projects completed
    • Maker kits updated and added to, including converting STEAM lab items
    • More take home storytimes
    • Recorded the rest of the storytime videos for the summer. Then re-recorded them b/c I did it wrong and the sound was off. Seriously, I am DONE.
    • Partly finished updating the lost, paid for, and missing lists.
    • Monthly report and all sorts of boring and time-consuming supervisory things, including bills
    • Created a Facebook group and posted the first week of virtual summer programming (note this took hours - it will go faster now that the initial work is done, but I still need to make sure I'm putting aside at least a couple hours for scheduling all the social media posts each week). That was around 30 posts scheduled for the next week, or something like that.
    • Almost finished another phase of my weeding project
    • Packed, with my aide's help, a month's worth of summer reading materials and books for 45 kids at a small local daycare.
  • Meetings
    • Managers' meetings regarding opening plans and general library business
