Read, Read, Read, said the Baby: The cookie book of colors by Holly Fox

This looked so bright and cheerful that I went ahead and bought it myself, even though it did sound like a novelty book. It turned out to be rather a novelty, but one I'm perfectly happy to put in my collection. Warning: It will make you want cookies.

Apparently Holly Fox is a baker and/or Instagrammer or something. She baked and photographed the cookies for this book and they look tasty (of course, looking and tasting are two different things...)

Each spread has an array of brightly colored and iced cookies, centered around a theme. They are set against a background of a darker color and a single word identifies the color. The first spread is red, and the cookies are slices of watermelon, cherries, and apples. There's an orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple page as well, in that order, and the last spread is "rainbow" with a selection of little rainbow cookies.

The cookies are beautifully decorated with spotted and veined green lilypads, a mix of orange hues on the butterflies and leaves, and cute purple octopus and jellyfish.

Verdict: A simple but sweet addition to your color recognition books.
