GLAS evening with the starsInsect Ambassadors (J)
This week's project was survival. It was Wisconsin Science Festival, I planned a bunch of outreach, it was the full moon, things happened. I was working on catching up on cataloging (our cataloger is on leave and I am the only person who can do a few things - although she may regret having given me those powers when she gets back...) Due to cloudy skies the telescopes on Friday evening were cancelled and something went wrong with our insect program and the presenters were so late we had to cancel the program. Also on Saturday we had volunteers come to finish our reorg of the YS area. I am very grateful for their help, but also amused that the stereotypes rang true and the wrestlers, while excellent at the moving of heavy objects, were not so good at the alphabetizing of the books. We did get 90% of the 5,000 books back on the shelf and the early readers are all in order and spread out nicely (girls from the volleyball team did those!). I left my teen aide (who is band incidentally) shaking his head over a section put back with the spines facing in lol.
I am really tired and looking forward to my 3 days (mostly) off next week. We are ALL really tired. October has been exhausting. This weekend in particular was difficult because I had spent so much time promoting and planning our science festival programs but we didn't really get a good turnout, although our one presenter was great and the kids that did come had a great time.
