- Collection Development
- Finish weeding the juvenile nonfiction
- Reorganize and relabel the board book collection
- New ordering plan - two orders each month, one backlist and one of items published that month. Additional orders in January - one extra order of backlist and replacement titles, one of prebound titles, and one of items I requested in prebound format.
- Programming
- I am personally running two book clubs (one was on hiatus last fall and I'm bringing it back in slightly updated format), and several self-guided afternoon crafting/sewing programs as well as monthly Dungeons and Dragons. I also have Homeschool Hangout and a few misc. things. I miss specific craft and project-themed programs sometimes, but I have to be realistic about what works and what doesn't.
- My teen services associate is trying several new programs and I will play around in those a bit perhaps as a "guest librarian" for some new crafts.
- Two new feature programs - a celebration of Very Hungry Caterpillar day, which I want to use as a big promotion for my Read and Grow (1,000 books before kindergarten) program and Dewey love to read, a stations-style Saturday program based around STEM/nonfiction.
- General Plans and Projects
- A monthly youth services social and unboxing of new books for my staff and any colleagues who want to attend.
- Webinar on programming - I am presenting this at the end of January, so it's a fairly immediate goal, although I do have a draft completed.
- I am hosting a work experiences intern for a few months. I promised our teen services person I'd handle it, as she has her hands full with the teen volunteers.
- Outreach - our school district is dealing with various issues and I'm at a point where I give them the option of visits, but if they don't request them or respond I don't push it. My half-time associate handles the four and five year old kindergartens and I do the older grades. If they don't ask for visits throughout the semester they'll almost certainly set up field trips and/or visits for the elementary schools in May. I've ended programs early to run those field trips and I hope to update them and get them scheduled earlier this year.
Personally I am working on recovering from surgery, getting back to being more active, and spending some time after four very tumultuous years figuring out what I want my life to look like. I have quilting and sewing projects, some plans for my garden in the spring, and right now I am just maintaining my blog and reviews without any big writing projects planned.
